Leaving your dog with a stranger is not easy. We did a lot of research on many doggy boot camps and in the end we were impressed with Chris and what he had to offer. We felt very comfortable leaving Maggy with Chris. Before doggy "BOOT CAMP" Maggy was your typical puppy. No listening skills and into everything. One of our biggest problems with Maggy was she had separation anxiety. She did not like her kennel at all. We would leave and come home to find her soaking wet from panting (This was after going through private lessons elsewhere). We went ahead and put Maggy through "BOOT CAMP" with Chris. Absolutely no regrets on our decision. When we went to pick Maggy up she was a different dog just as Chris said she would be. She looked very happy and was very well behaved. We were nervous on how we would meet Maggy and how she would respond to us.Chris made it very comfortable for both us and Maggy. He transferred commands over and made sure we were comfortable with everything before we left. Now that Maggy is home she is doing awesome. She actually listens!!! Her separation anxiety is getting better. We can tell she is happier and so are we now that we have control of our dog!!! We would highly recommend Chris to anyone. We are 100% satisfied with the results. Chris is very compassionate towards these dogs you can tell by the way they respond to him. We are excited to continue our lessons and improve Maggy's training. We thank you Chris for what you have done with Maggy and appreciate all your hard work. It shows!!! If you are reading this and are questioning whether or not to enroll your dog in boot camp. Three words for you GO FOR IT!!! You won't regret it. It will be a life changing experience between you and your dog.

"What we found most beneficial in our experience with Chris is his comprehensive approach to training. He quickly became an invaluable resource to us by patiently answering all of our questions and providing creative solutions to the day-to-day behavior issues we came across in our puppy's first six months. The ability to have that 1-on-1 consultation with an expert is priceless...and something you just can't get from a typical class setting with one trainer and ten dogs. By taking the time to get to know our dog, he was able to provide an effective and appropriate training program that was geared to her motivations and tendencies. In the process, he coached us just as thoroughly on providing consistent corrections and rewards, so that we have a happy, well-adjusted, and obedient dog."

Prior to Boomer's "Boot Camp" training at Old School he had learned only basic commands, but as an 85 pound yellow Labrador that was only partially effective. My wife and I both like to take him for walks, but he was only somewhat obedient for me, and whenever my wife took him out it was not an enjoyable experience to say the least. Prior to Chris' training he would pull, explode out of control to greet others who came near, and occasional bound into his handler, or worse yet those that were nearby. Since Boomer's finished Boot Camp, we've both thoroughly enjoyed taking our amazingly well behaved large dog on walks! He heels to the point of turning our pants white, not really but you get the point. He stops when we stop, and eagerly awaits his next command. "Sit", "down", "heel", "wait", and "here" are solid commands that he learned both verbally and by hand signal with Chris, and now fully understands and obeys. These alone give nearly full control of our dog, and though there's other commands that we're working on with him, we would be fully content if that was all he had learned. Learn them he did! Anyone who has a dog that embarrasses them in public, or in their home with visitors present (like we did) needs to go see Chris at Old School Obedience! You won't be sorry..... I was skeptical when I signed up for the unlimited training. I thought after 10 classes Chris would be trying to get rid of me. Not so! I've lost count of how many training sessions we've had. Now I have a dog who walks with me, and a trainer who knows how to listen and constantly works at giving me the best relationship possible with my dog. Anna Thoms Littleton Colorado.
Chris did a great job training my dog. He also took the time to train me to the commands that he works with. Now, two years later, my dog is still adhering well to the training that Chris provided. I found that Chris' boarding/refresher was also helpful since it refreshed both me and the dog to the correct commands. Jon Ortman
To any dog owners with dogs having training issues: I have trained dogs approx. 30 years and they have all been extremely well behaved (GSD, Rotty, Pitbull). However I always got them as puppies and did NOT have to overcome issues from previous owners. My dog Spike (American Pitbull Terrier) was a handful to say the least. He had a checkered past and had big time dog aggression problems. If any big furry dog started something, Spike wanted to finish it. Believe me Spike could take on a wild animal and come out on top, rip through a chain link fence or clear a 6 ft height, but in my book this is totally unacceptable. I tried unsuccessfully for 10 months to turn this switch off in Spike but had no success. After my 3rd session with Chris and Cesar I have a new dog. Truly amazing! Thank you Old School. I look forward to my future classes and will always be grateful. Sincerely, Bob Kunselman Lakewood colorado

My dog Dude spent the first four years without very much in the way of training. Consequently, he did not obey a word I said. For the first three years, he was generally a good dog, so this did not present huge troubles, This became a much more serious problem when (without any cause I could pinpoint) he became extremely aggressive towards other dogs.
I tried several trainers (even some who claimed to 'specialize' in dog aggression). I was given a lot of similar answers, all of which involved the realization that he could never be trusted around another dog. That was when I cam across Chris Lujan and Old School Dog Obedience. I opted to send Dude to boot camp.
28 days later, I picked up a dog who looked just like Dude. An obedient, confident, happy dog who could spend hours playing at the dog park. A dog who obeys commands and who understands his place in our 2 member 'pack'.
Chris warned that Dude's re-introduction to his home would be critical. Knowing nothing about dog training, I was nervous, but Chris has been there every step of the way. He has made the process easy on both Dude and on myself. I ask an average of 5 stupid questions per week (sometimes more) and he continues to give substantive and helpful answers.
I can not recommend Old School Dog Obedience highly enough. Chris has given Dude and me a level of freedom that I did not think was possible. Feel free to contact me with any specific questions.

Before we started with Old School my husband and I had recently adopted a 3 year old Siberian Husky. I did a lot of research on the breed and knew I was going to need help training him. I researched trainers and Old School caught my eye. Chris offered so many training options, was incredibly flexible and we liked the idea of having a complimentary session to see if it was right for us. I don’t regret our decision one bit! The private lesson option is working great with our schedules. Chris has offered helpful solutions and been very patient with my husband and I when we make mistakes. Logan is coming along VERY well and we are both happy and confident that we will one day be able to confidently take him off-leash; something that can rarely be done with an untrained husky. I would highly recommend Old School Dog Obedience to any first time or veteran dog owner. His skills and methods are amazing and work on even the most difficult dogs. I feel like we have a much more balanced dog who is eager to work on his
commands and is happier knowing his place in our pack. A HUGE thank you to Chris for the progress we’ve made and will no doubt continue to make with Logan. We can now dispel the many rumors that husky’s are untrainable.
Sincerely,
Michaelanne & Ben Dehner
In the fall of 2006 we adopted a 1½ year-old Boxer/Amer. Bulldog mix named Jerry through a rescue group. He knew no commands, we’re not sure if he knew his name, and he was a very dominant dog. He would look at you as if to say “You want ME to sit? Yeah right, ha! I’ll do what I want.” He pulled on the leash making walks un-enjoyable. He would go nuts when another dog approached, pulling on the leash and totally ignoring any command. It was embarrassing! We knew he was beyond any group obedience classes at the chain pet stores. So, in October we interviewed a few trainers and chose Chris at Old School Dog Obedience. We chose the lifetime private lessons package and are very happy with our results!!
For example, prior to our first lesson it was a wrestling match to get Jerry to go into his kennel. We had one lesson with Chris, went home that night and said “Jerry, kennel.” And he walked right in!!! We were ecstatic!
It is now the beginning of December and we have learned all the basic commands. Jerry has done extremely well mastering the basics. We are so proud to show him off! We will now add more distractions and get the kids involved as well. We have learned how to make our dog respect us, without losing any of his unique personality. We are working our way toward off-leash control. We are very excited and happy with how much we have learned in such a short time and recommend Chris to anyone with a dog who doesn’t listen or any other problems.
Thanks Chris!
Sincerely,
Kevin & Aimee Miller and Jerry too!
Dear Old School Dog Obedience.
Thank you so much for helping us train Pepper. Pepper has changed so much and we are so grateful. She actually listens to us now and she understands that she is not the boss - we are. We can actually enjoy her more now and it's so much easier to take her on walks. Pepper is also so much better around kids and other dogs. Other members of our family and friends are also amazed in the change in her. We are so glad we found you and you were able to help us train her. Thanks again.

Joyce, Sorry I haven't answered yet. I have been a bit under the weather.
We are soooo very pleased with our experience with Chris. Originally, the
thought of being without Dexter for a month seemed unrealistic. He is a BIG
lap dog and we are very close. But, he has always been very lovable and
playful. He just thought our grandchildren and I should be his playtoys.
The children were afraid of him and my 84 year old mother-in-law wouldn't
come visit as she was afraid he would knock her down the stairs!!!!
Well, I tried Petsmart training, but I am totally untrainable (or so I
thought). Dexter has always been smart (with an attitude) and I just
couldn't manage remembering the commands, clicking the clicker and giving
the treat and in what order I was supposed to do it!!!!
An employee of mine recommended Chris and even though Dexter is the one that
went to boot camp, I am the one that has benefited the most from his time
away. Dexter no longer pulls on the leash and we walk around the
neighborhood working out and meeting and greeting adults as well as
children. It is sooo fun. My grandchildren (7 and 5) can pet him, feed him
treats, and lay their heads on him without fear. They are becoming good
friends!! He is even responding to my 3 year old granddaughter and minding
his manners when she tells him. It is so cute.
We will continue to go to Chris for updates to MY training and Dexter has a
second family to stay with when we need to fly out of town.
Good luck with your boot camp experience. Let me know what you think. It
certainly has been the best decision we have made to have a happy family for
all three of us.

We are so thankful for having found Chris Lujan and Old School Dog Obedience. Sammy, our 2 year old Bluetick Coonhound, had picked up a new habit and was becoming aggressive toward other dogs when he was on a leash. The day he actually made contact with another dog's nose was the day I knew I needed to get him to a trainer. Sammy's first lesson dealt with his issue of leash aggression. I was concerned that Chris would be too hard on Sammy. I was relieved to see that Chris knows how to train a dog without being abusive, as I could not have agreed to that kind of training.
Sammy has improved so much. Now, he will either ignore a dog that is close by or he will slightly smell them then leave. We have also learned new commands such as˜down, wait,˜come, heel and stay. Sammy enjoys learning these new lessons. He loves all the praise he receives for a job well done.
Another thing that I really like about Chris is that he lets you decide what you want to teach your dog. If there is a particular issue you need to work on, Chris will know what to do.
Once again, Many thanks to you, Chris, for giving us the training we needed to help Sammy have a contented and happy life!

Hi, my name is Sofi, and I was 6 mos old when my owners brought me to Old School Dog Obedience for the 28 day board and train program. I was a typical puppy when they took me to training- I'm full of energy and had decided that I did not need to listen to my owners...i really didn't enjoy walks with them. After the training I still had my puppy energy, but I learned how to walk next to them, come when called and play when allowed. It's been great! We now have all sorts of fun together- we went on our first hike recently and I did really well-I stayed on command and on the path and really got a work-out! I'm excited to continue training with Chris in hopes that I can eventually go hiking and walking off lead!
I definitely recommend Chris Lujan and Old School Dog Obedience. I learned a lot and so will your dog! You won't be disappointed!

Dear Prospective Old School Dog Obedience Client:
Before working with Chris Lujan of Old School, Sadie knew that she was the boss. I highly recommend Old School Dog obedience. Chris has worked remarkably with
both Sadie and I in order to correct our problems.
Private lessons with Chris have given me the capability to guide Sadie. Sadie
now listens, and it has really strengthened our relationship. Sadie is also
happier because she is disciplined less frequently. Having a better behaved dog
has increased my comfort level in many situations. I am no longer apprehensive
when taking Sadie out in public, because she knows how to behave.
Not only is Sadie noticeably better behaved. As a result of training Sadie is
now capable of doing several commands. I am very happy with our progress, and I
look forward to seeing how she will continue.
Thanks,

Hi Chris,
Clancy is doing great. I am amazed at the difference a month with you can make!! He has adjusted and for the most part has obeyed on command. We have had to correct him some but not much. I knew Clancy was trainable but we just didn't have the time to spend with him everyday to give him a good foundation. Now, we have a good foundation of training on which we can build. The "doggie boot camp" was well worth the money.

Hi Chris.
I wanted to let you know how good the dogs have been since they've been home from training. Even at their worst moments, they are far better than they were before. No more running through the house, no more eating the house, no more jumping, no more fighting us when we try to direct them. They are such good dogs now. They are now able to be together all day, although they do take advantage of us being out of the room. I had such a hard time with them on my own before, and now I have no trouble at all. Even down to me walking through the house...before training, I couldn't walk without being tripped or stepped on, but now they are more aware of space. We can take them for walks together, which is when they do best with training. They both stay just at our hips, never pulling or dragging us. Emma sometimes begins to walk ahead, but will look behind and stop until she's by my side again. We have noticed that Jameson is the alpha between the two of them, and he has to lead her. He has to be a few paces ahead. Before training, I couldn't walk either of them from the truck to the front door to the Vet's office without being dragged and having both heels dug into the ground. I really have enjoyed them so much more now that they're obedient. It's nice to have such good dogs. They seem so much happier as well. They are more calm and relaxed now. They don't cry and jump in their kennels anymore...they actually seem to be comfortable in them now. Before training, we had to literally pick them up and force them in, which is hard to do with a Great Dane. We had a hard time with them all around before you trained them. We loved them, but were at the point that we were ready to find one of them a new home or send her back to the breeders. We have seen such a dramatic change in them. We are so happy with them now and love them even more. I don't know if Landon told you this, but they cried (especially
Emma) for a few days after they came home. I think they really missed you. They sure are good dogs. Thank you for everything. We look forward to our next training session (which Landon needs to call and set up with you). I'm attaching a few pictures of them from a few days ago.
Thanks again, Shayne and Landon

We rescued Kaya, our husky, from a sled dog business in Snowmass. She had
never been in the house or walked, or loved. She didn’t have any idea what to
think about us and just paced constantly. I called Chris frantic the first
night I got her, as I had no idea what to do. She wasn’t like other domestic
dogs. Kaya had spent most of her life tied to a palette. Chris gave me the
info I needed in order to keep Kaya safe and allow her to begin to bond with us.
We started training with Chris the next week. He taught us about the wolf pack
theory and helped us understand how a husky thinks. Now Kaya is just a joy!
She heels, sits, lies down, waits, stays, comes, and goes in her kennel all with
voice or hand commands. Have you ever known a husky who gets outside and then
comes when they’re called? I have one! She is also the sweetest dog we have
ever had and she loves us more for the training. I think it makes her feel
safer and she certainly doesn’t mind that we give her commands. She is quite
proud of herself for knowing how to do them. We recommend Chris to anyone who
wants to have a really well trained and well-behaved dog. He saved us, all of
us!
Sincerely,

Recently we took our 7 month old black lab, Maggie, to Chris for his Doggie Boot
Camp. We left him an untrained and excitable puppy and we picked up a very
manageable and trained puppy. We had a great experience with Chris and were
thrilled to have our dog in such a loving home environment.
During Maggie’s stay we were able to see her a few times on his “doggie web cam”
and were able to watch her during a training session. It was wonderful to see
that she was responding so well to Chris and she looked very comfortable in her
surroundings. She had total respect for Chris and really learned a lot during
her stay. We have also enjoyed our private lessons with Chris because he has
been able to work with my daughter and I and has trained us as well.
We would highly recommend his program to anyone wanting to train their new
puppy.

How about some bullet points:
Pre-Chris
- adopted with no training
- pulled severely on the leash
- difficult to control
Post-Chris
- fantastic on the lead, stops before crossing streets
- will sit and go down and stay on both voice and hand commands
- still need to work on some long term stay/wait

"I was at first nervous to leave my dog, Harley, for 28 days. I thought he would come back more discipline and also I was concerned his personality would change. He came back a lot more discipline and came back with the same happy personality. Chris Lujan did a great job training Harley and is very communicative and provides great on-going support and follow-up training."

Chris,
When we first got sophie she wouldn't listen to us at all. we tried hard for a while but then it just got so frustrating. She would just do whatever she wanted. Finally, we decided that we could not keep her if she kept acting up so we looked into dog training school. we looked at a couple and we thought we found one we liked but they wouldnt work with us. Then matt saw a phone book listing for old school dog obedience and he immediatley liked it. We liked the idea of a home enviornment and there were not that many dogs at a time. We decided to do it and now, after missing her for 28 days, we have her back and it is a complete change. It has helped us so much and we enjoy working with her everyday. Chris was great and really listened and helped out. We just can not believe how good she is now. Thank you so much.

Dear Chris and Old School Dog Obedience,
I recently got my new puppy Genesis and always wanted a well trained dog. I
tried training her myself, but did not see the progress I hoped for. I read all
the dog training books, browsed the internet, and even talked with others who
trained their dogs themselves. I then began looking around at the various
training facilities and finally chose Old School. I came for the initial
consultation and was impressed with the time and care spent with the dogs. Chris
spent time asking questions and allowed me to ask as many questions as I wanted.
I instantly felt comfortable leaving "my girl" with him for the 28 day Doggy Boot
Camp. Chris made it clear I could call or email with any questions while she was
in boot camp. I even had the opportunity to view her training and play time via
a web cam. That was a very nice feature. The day of pick up was very beneficial
and much time was spent reviewing and teaching the new commands. Chris made it
clear he wants to take a proactive position in the continuous training and we
even set up a follow up visit before I even took Genesis home that day. I feel
very confident in the training and education both Genesis and I have received. I
would definitely recommend Old School to anyone looking for training for their
dog. You won't be disappointed...!
Sincerely Yours,

When first choosing a dog trainer for our new puppy Hunter, we were looking
for a trainer that was not only knowledgeable, but also one that could fulfill
our prerequisites of our previously trained dog. Although this may be hard to
believe, there are many types of dog training out there and not all of them
could accomplish the goals we were looking for. By checking into the Old
School's web site, we thought we had a match... and there is no doubt that we
were right! From the moment we met Chris and Caesar, we were impressed. The
methods that Chris uses to train were exactly what we were looking for and there
is no doubt that they work. Hunter is now only four months old and has
progressed at a rate we still are not quite capable of comprehending. Our other
dog was trained in a very similar way to Old School's, but he certainly didn't
progress at such an impressive rate.Chris has been such a professional and
always impresses us with his knowledge of dogs and their behavior. All dogs are
different and have a different array of behavioral problems, but from observing
Chris with not only our dog but with many other of his board and trains, we've
seen that Chris almost always has a solution to a problem. Not only is Chris
excellent with dogs, but he is also patient and understanding with people. He
always make us feel comfortable to discuss any issues no matter how trivial they
may have seemed. We've had such a great experience in training and look forward
to our future sessions with Chris. We would highly recommend Old School Dog
Training not only for a novice dog owner, but one that is experienced as well.

"We left our 5 month old labradoodle with Chris at Old School Dog Training for a 28 day training program. We chose Chris because the facilities were meticulously clean, and he was exceedingly professional. We can't complement Chris and Old School Dog Training enough. We felt completely comfortable with Chris' ability to train and care for our puppy, and our experience exceeded all expectations. Our puppy was taught all the basic commands in a loving environment, and he is now back in our home, trained and happy as ever. We highly recommend the 28 day program, and Old School Dog Training."
We will probably have you come out for a follow-up in the next month or so. We will also continue to recommend your program. Please call if you need anything. Thanks again.

Dear doggie obedience
and Mr. Chis Lujan
Being a businessman, I like to research any decision I make, especially when I spend several hundred dollars. You were by far the best bet.
I really liked the fact that we get the ongoing support for training. I was surprised to know you took such an interest and came to our house just to see how she was doing in her environment!

Mr. Lujan,
At first I was skeptical about paying for board and train. But let me say it was the best money I ever spent. It seemed like a lot of money at the time, but star will be with us for hopefully 15 or so years...I would do it over and over again...

Dear Dog Lovers-
Oct 29, 2004
My puppy, Tess, means the world to me. Therefore, I spent a great amount of time and resources searching for an obedience program that would be the best for her. I was very selective and spoke with many trainers and considered various traditional and nontraditional training options before choosing to enroll Tess in Old School Dog Obedience Doggy Boot Camp. I chose Old School Obedience because it offered outstanding training in a real-life, family, environment.
I highly recommend Old School Dog Obedience. Before her Boot Camp experience, Tess had various obedience and potty training issues. Prior to her beginning, Chris Lujan sat down with me to discuss specific training goals for Tess and walked me through what her 28 days in the program would be like. Chris re-assured me that Tess would succeed and paid close attention to Tess as he began to get to know her.
Throughout, Tess’s 28 days at Doggy Boot Camp, Chris and I kept in touch on a weekly and sometimes daily basis to talk about Tess’s progress. Chris was very patient with me, and was willing to answer my many questions. Chris was also very helpful in suggesting new training tools for Tess’s follow-up training and providing suggestions on how to make Tess’s transition back into our home as smooth as possible.
When I picked Tess up at the end of Doggy Boot Camp, I was amazed by her progress. Before boot camp, Tess barely knew how to sit. She now understands sit, stay, lie-down, no, heel, come, and wait. Furthermore, Tess is now crate trained and completely understands that she is only to go potty outside. Going for walks is now a pleasure.
Chris Lujan is an excellent trainer. I highly recommend Old School Dog Obedience and am thankful for the positive impact that Tess’s training experience has had on our life.
